§ 14.16.030. Existing dwelling units.

  • Where an existing dwelling house, multiple-dwelling unit, building, trailer court or other like structure or premises is now occupied by more than one consumer and is not now separately metered, the total gallons of water used shall be divided by the number of consumers and monthly billing to each consumer shall be based upon the number of gallons so determined computed at the rates set forth in this chapter.

    If any such consumers shall default in the payment of his/her portion of the monthly billing, the owner of the structure or premises shall become responsible for payment of all delinquent billings. If the owner does not pay the delinquent bill by the twenty-fifth day of the month following the default, the city may discontinue water service to the entire structure or premises. If service is discontinued in such circumstances, all prior bills and delinquencies must be paid and all future water service must be separately metered and billed to each consumer before service is restored.
