§ 9.16.160. Injuries to animals.

  • A person violates this chapter when the person does any of the following:

    (1)

    Maliciously kills, maims or disfigures any animal or maliciously administers poison to any such animal, or exposes any poisonous substance with the intent that it be taken by any such animal, when that person has no right to do so;

    (2)

    Impounds or confines or causes to be impounded or confined in any place any domestic animal and fails to supply such animal during confinement with a sufficient quantity of food and water, or who tortures, torments, deprives of necessary sustenance, mutilates, overdrives, overloads, drives when overloaded, beats or kills any such animal by any means which cause unjustified pain, distress or suffering, whether intentionally or negligently;

    (3)

    Arranges, promotes or stages an exhibition at which any animal is tormented, or any fight between animals or between a person and an animal, or who keeps a place where such exhibitions and fights are staged for the entertainment of spectators.

    For the purposes of this section, the term "animal" includes all domestic and wild animals and fowl.
