§ 15.16.120. Requirements for joints and connections.

  • All joints and connections shall be made gastight and watertight. Cast iron soil pipe joints shall be firmly packed with oakum or hemp and filled with molten lead not less than one inch deep. Rubber gasketed joints meeting the requirements of AWWA Specification C111-72 may be used for cast iron soil pipe in lieu of leaded joints if approved by the city. Joints for clay sewer pipe shall meet the requirements of ASTM Specification C424-74. Joints for plastic sewer pipe shall be compression type utilizing a rubber gasket equal to "Ring-Tite." Joints of copper tube shall be sweat joints in accordance with accepted plumbing practices.
