§ 7.12.130. Disposal of organic debris.

Latest version.
  • City residents may deliver grass clippings, leaves, and yard waste to the Wilton public works facility or such other location as may be provided by the city, and such waste may be dumped out of any bags, baskets or similar containers at the area designated for disposal by the city. All yard waste, as defined in this chapter, may be so deposited with the city. Small twigs and branches may also be delivered to the public works facility or other area designated by the city if such small twigs and branches are bundled and all components of the bundles are no longer than eighteen inches in diameter and four feet or less in length. The city may reject any material delivered which does not conform to these or any other city specifications. All other brush, tree trimmings, portions of trees or other large substantial yard waste, or as small twigs and branches, shall be chipped at the curbside of the property where such waste is generated. All chipping work shall be done by the city, unless arrangements have been made to use a private contractor for purpose of chipping the waste. The city shall be paid fifty dollars per hour for all chipping done by the city and in any event the charge for chipping shall be a minimum of twenty dollars. Such collection may include, if necessary, the assessment of such charges against real property as a property tax.
